About this series

In the Bible, bread is a symbol for what we depend upon to live. Sadly, we humans tend to depend upon all the wrong things: money, power, the approval of others, etc. None of these can truly sustain us. And if we build a life upon them, it’s just a matter of time before things come crashing down. Which is why the Biblical text uses the image of bread over and over again to show how God is the true giver and sustainer of life. In fact, Jesus even called himself the “Bread of Life” in John 6:35. In this 8-part series, we’ll examine the unexpected and life-giving imagery of bread in connection to Jesus’s ministry and learn how to live more dependent lives on the One who truly satisfies.
